Students in Mrs. Robinson’s 9th Grade English classes brought spooky season to life by annotating the suspenseful short story “Death by Scrabble” under blacklight! They identified and analyzed key elements of suspense — including mood, tone, imagery, pacing, irony, and foreshadowing — and discussed their annotations with peers, making inferences about how these techniques build tension and keep readers on edge. This activity supported Arkansas standard 9.RC.6.RL, as students explained how the overall structure and sequencing of a text enhances its mood, suspense, and tension.

FCA welcomed a guest speaker today. Oscar Cantu, 2020 World Boxing Champion, spoke to students at LHS & challenged them to reach for the moon so if you fall, you land on the stars.
All students are invited to attend an FCA sponsored event called Fields of Faith at the Lavaca Football Stadium tomorrow at 6pm. Gates open at 5:15pm.

LHS Beta officers attended the Leadership Summit in Benton the past two days. They competed and placed in Collaboration Connection & Beta Blitz qualifying them for Beta Nationals this summer! They also won the Beta scavenger hunt! Way to represent LHS!
