We are one week away from our 1st Annual FFA Da! This event will be held Tues, Feb 24 on the LHS campus!. Students in grades K-8 will enjoy a fun-filled day of educational activities supporting agriculture in Arkansas.

February is National Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month. We will be recognizing the teaching of the trades throughout the month! The CTE programs at LHS are designed to prepare students for entering the workforce and/or higher education. Our courses afford students the opportunity to build career skills, get a head start on college coursework, & develop skills to be leaders in the future. Our next feature this month is Computer Science.

LHS Cybersecurity students attended the Capture the Flag competition at the Guy Fentner Educational Cooperative yesterday. Mrs. Fox & her students collaborated to solve escape rooms & search for clues. Team members Jacob James, Tucker Hubbard, Emma Ruggiero & Jordyn Roberts placed 2nd in the competition! 25 members of the Lavaca FFA Chapter competed in the Battle Town Rivalry yesterday in Fort Smith. The FFA members competed in Ag Mechanics, Floriculture, Electricity, Poultry, and Wildlife contests. The Ag Mechanics team finished 8th out of 23 teams and Max Floyd placed 8th out of 86 participants. The Farm Business Management team finished 9th out of 15 teams. The Lavaca FFA Wildlife team placed 6th out of 41 teams. Lavaca FFA is excited to begin a series of Career Development Event competitions this spring.
