Lavaca High School

Lavaca High School is a 2026 Casey’s Cash for Classrooms grant recipient. The school will receive $7,000.00 to purchase a SmartBoard for the high school library. The grant title is "Beyond Books: Transforming the Library into a Collaborative Digital Center." This project will transform the space into a dynamic learning hub for students and staff by supporting project-based learning, digital literacy instruction, and collaborative group work.

"We are incredibly grateful to receive the Cash for Classrooms grant from Casey’s. This generous support allows us to transform the high school library into a dynamic, collaborative digital hub that will deeply enhance our students’ project-based learning and digital literacy skills. Casey’s is a phenomenal community partner, and their investment directly impacts the way our students learn, collaborate, and grow every day," said Shannon Todaro, Library Media Specialist. The installation of the SmartBoard is expected to be completed by August 2026.

The Class of 2026 graduation ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 19th, at the Jimmy D. Hobbs Memorial Stadium. Congratulations to the graduates! Class President, Rayne Teague, presented the welcome. Scholarship recipients announced their future plans & awards before the Salutatorian, Sydnee Beck & Valedictorian, Grayson Proctor, gave their addresses. We are so proud of you all!

LHS Staff wants to extend sincere appreciation to the team of individuals that helped prepare the football stadium for the Class of 2026 graduation last night. When the weather brought a rainy day, the team worked hard to ensure that the graduates were able to have their ceremony as originally planned! The entire administrative team, high school staff members, members of maintenance, safety director, underclassmen, community members, & a board member all worked as a team to dry the bleachers & chairs! Having everyone come today is a true testament of how the district's vision is carried out each day: Minds that Think. Hearts that Care. Hands that serve.
