Check out this awesome project! Mrs. Werschem’s class created replicas of the planets. 🪐
Mrs. Dupre's 7th grade students created a model of Earth’s interior layers. Working with a partner, students were given 5 minutes with a meter stick where they had to come up with a way to consistently move one meter at a time, using their bodies, before having the meter stick taken away. Then, the students had to use that method, starting from the center of the Earth, and mark off (using toys) the inner core, outer core, lower mantle, upper mantle, and crust, traveling a total of 100 meters. Finally, we compared our model to Earth’s interior and discussed how thin the layer of the crust is compared to everything else beneath us. Students used a variety of methods to move a meter, including but not limited to, laying down using legs or arms, heel to toe with their shoes or feet, lunges, and even rolling! It was a lot of fun and very eye opening for the students to realize there is so much more going on under the surface of our planet!
LMS PPYC designed yard signs and the entire school had the opportunity to vote for their favorites.

Mrs. Cooper's Visual Art classes just completed a unit over Art Careers. They selected a career, researched the educational and occupational requirements, salary, and interesting facts. They wrote a report and presented the information to their peers and created art as their chosen art career. Here are some of their works and may be viewed in the Middle School Library.

The Lavaca Middle School Band performed at the region 8 Concert Assessment today in Van Buren and scored an overall EXCELLENT rating on stage and a SUPERIOR rating in sight reading! GO BAND!
