The 5th and 6th grade chess teams competed in their last tournament of the school year at Mansfield today. They have learned so much about the game and show great sportsmanship. Isaac Manus won a bronze medal for winning 4 out of 5 matches!

Mr. Thornton announced winners for his History Essay Contest today!
Students were given the opportunity to choose to submit an essay over any historical topic for a chance to win an award for their writing.
Ellie Waterbury won first place for the eighth grade. In the seventh grade Scarlett Beatty won first for her essay on the Holocaust, Alec Heydenreich won second for his essay on Germany’s Economy after WW1, and Lily Kilbreth won third place for her essay on WWII.
Way to go!

"Pickle" Your Choices Wisely!
LMS Project Prevent gave out pickles to students who are committed to living a tobacco and vape free life.









The 8th grade GT class visited Steffey’s Pizza to continue their Science of Cooking unit. They learned so much about making pizza and got to make their own!

Dr. Hannah Crosswhite spoke to 7th grade Career Development students about careers in veterinary science. Dr. Crosswhite is a Lavaca graduate and shared with the students about her education, internships, and even let them make a diagnosis after learning how to interpret lab results!


The LPS Administrative team awarded staff members today that were selected by their colleagues and students as Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year for each building.

The Lavaca School District Office of Education is extending an invitation to Home School parents residing within the Lavaca School District boundary to attend an informational session concerning the delivery of Special Education and related services. This will take place on March 10th from 1:00-2:00 pm in the board room of the Lavaca Admin Building located at 203 Fir St.
