Teachers from the GFESC region will be on campus this week for professional development that will guide them in preparation for the upcoming school year. Lavaca Public Schools (LPS) is thrilled to announce the Local Board of Education named Mrs. Caitlin Staton as the new Director of Curriculum. Mrs. Staton is no stranger to our district. She taught at Lavaca Elementary for 11 years before transitioning to the Literacy/Dyslexia Specialist at the Guy Fenter Educational Service Cooperative for the past 5 years. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and a masters in curriculum administration.
As Mrs. Staton joins the administrative team at LPS, new elementary principal Mrs. Patterson said, “I’m thrilled about the impact Mrs. Staton will bring to our district with her expertise in literacy. Her dedication to our district is a valuable addition, and I’m confident she’ll be a great asset to our community.” Mr. Hogan, middle School principal, stated, “It is great we have brought back to our district, Mrs. Staton. Her experience as a teacher and a consultant on the local and state level will be a tremendous asset to our district. She not only works here but she lives in our community and her children attend LPS. Welcome back!!!” When asked about the impact of a new addition to the admin team, high school principal, Dr. Owen said, “Welcome back to the Home of the Golden Arrows! We are excited to have you on our team and the expertise and knowledge you bring with you will benefit the students in our district.”
Mrs. Staton and her husband of 16 years, Codey, have 3 children: Conner, age 15; Clara, age 11; and Carley, age 9. When asked about taking on this new role, she said, “I am so excited to be back in the district. I love Lavaca Public Schools.” This fall Mrs. Staton will start her 17th year in education.

Lavaca Public Schools is excited to announce the Local Board of Education named Mrs. Jamie Patterson as the new Elementary Principal. Mrs. Patterson enters this position starting her 15th year in education and has been known as Coach Patterson, Counselor, and now Principal. Middle School principal, Mr. Randy Hogan congratulates Mrs. Patterson and when asked about working with her, he said, “I am excited for our district and community as she continues her outstanding service and leadership in this new role.” As she transitions into this new administrative role, she will be working closely with the school district’s administrative team. High School principal, Dr. Felicia Owen, said, “Mrs. Patterson has a heart for the students at Lavaca Schools and brings to this position a passion for the entire community. Her dedication to the field and education and loyalty to the Golden Arrows will be an asset to the district’s admin team.”
Mrs. Patterson will celebrate 16 years of marriage to her husband, Jamie Patterson this August. Together, they have two children that are Golden Arrows, Myla Kay is in the 9th grade and Hadley Lynn is in the 7th. When asked about transitioning to this new role, she stated, “I am so honored to serve at Lavaca Public Schools in this capacity! Lavaca is truly a special place to be. I’m so thankful for the relationships that I already have due to my past years of experience and look forward to continuing my journey in this new position.”
