Here is a bit about him:
"My name is Embry Thornton and I am thrilled to now be a part of the Lavaca School District! While I have many hobbies and interests such as hiking, basketball, and writing my two biggest passions in life are for education and history. This is why I am beyond excited to be starting the position of 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Lavaca Middle School. As a former student from a small, rural school district in central Arkansas, I have always been passionate about the impact schools can have on communities. I am dedicated to providing an accessible and effective education to a town that cares deeply for its’ students!"

Here is a little about her:
"My husband, John and I have been married for 33 years. We have 4 children and 5 adorable grandchildren. My favorite things to do are spending time with my family and reading. This is my 10th year teaching, and I am excited to begin a new adventure at Lavaca as the gifted and talented teacher!"

Arrow Family, please welcome Mr. Janson Graves to LHS! Coach Graves will be teaching Logistics & Transportation, and is the new Assistant Coach for football and baseball.
Here's a little about him:
"I'll be teaching Intro to Business, Markets & Analytics, and Supply Chain & Logistics. I'm also involved as an assistant coach for football and baseball, and I'll be the FBLA sponsor. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing, hunting, and fishing. I chose to go into education because I want to be a positive role model in students' lives-someone who inspires them to become the best version of themselves and helps prepare them for life after high school."
Welcome, Coach Graves!

Here's a bit about Mrs. King:
"Hi, my name is Jessica King. I have been married to my husband, Terrell, for 20 wonderful years, and together we are the parents of three amazing children: Dakota, Baylee, and Katie. One of my favorite activities is spending quality time with my family, whether it's nights at home, outdoor adventures at our land, or traveling together. I am thrilled to be back in Lavaca, my hometown, and to take on the new role as Director of Daycare and Pre-K at the Little Arrows Learning Center. With a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to creating a nurturing environment, I am eager to establish a safe and inspiring space where children can learn and grow! I look forward to collaborating with parents, staff, and the community to ensure a positive experience for all the children in our care."

Here is a little about him:
"This will be my 4th year teaching and coaching. I am excited to be here as the DC for football and to continue teaching Science. I love the outdoors, football, and weightlifting. I became a teacher and coach to help people to be all they can and to push them to achieve more than they thought possible. I really enjoy helping kids to excel in the classroom, weight room, and on the football field. I am very excited to be here and to get started."

Here is a little about her:
"My name is Kaitlynn Sandine. I am happily married with 2 kids. We have two Australian Shepherds and a cat. I graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 2023 and have 2 years of teaching experience. In my free time I enjoy baking, shopping, hanging with friends, and going for walks with my dogs. I became a teacher to make a difference in lives of young children."

Here’s a little about Ms. Gann:
“Hello. My name is Sarah Gann. I have been at Lavaca Elementary for 3 years working as a one-on-one aide. This year, I will take on a new role as the ALE Teacher in my new classroom! My favorite things to do are spending time with my kids, working on DIY crafts, listening to music, and watching the same shows over and over again. My favorite holiday is Halloween, and I love all things Fall. I’ve known I wanted to be a teacher since I was five years old. School was always my favorite place to be. My goal is to make my classroom a safe space and my students favorite place to be. I am so grateful that I get to do that at Lavaca where it feels like home. I am very excited for my first official year of teaching!!

This year, at Lavaca School District, all students will be eligible to receive FREE breakfast at school, regardless of their eligibility for free or reduced meals. A FREE breakfast will be provided to EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY for the 2025-2026 school year.
In Arkansas, Act 123 improves access to meals for all public school students through an initiative to ensure every student is provided a nutritional start to the day which supports learning and growth throughout the school year!
