Lavaca Middle School

Our 6th grade students have been exploring how poets write intentionally, using rhythm, repetition, and sound devices to convey meaning. One student was so inspired, she wrote and proudly shared her own original poem with the class! 📚✨

This past week in social studies Mr. Thornton's classes spent some time in class researching Constitutional Amendments, and then students created posters on the ones most significant to them! This exercise was in observance of both Constitution Week and Freedom Week, spending time in class to focus on the rights granted to us in the Constitution, amendments, and the sacrifices from the individuals who protect these rights daily.

The Lavaca Middle School Chess Team competed today at the Greenwood Chess Tournament and brought home some great results! Our team placed 3rd overall! 🥈Destan Collins & Bennett Hanna both earned Silver Medals! Way to go! ♟️
