Lavaca Public Schools (LPS) is thrilled to announce the Local Board of Education named Mrs. Caitlin Staton as the new Director of Curriculum. Mrs. Staton is no stranger to our district. She taught at Lavaca Elementary for 11 years before transitioning to the Literacy/Dyslexia Specialist at the Guy Fenter Educational Service Cooperative for the past 5 years. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and a masters in curriculum administration.
As Mrs. Staton joins the administrative team at LPS, new elementary principal Mrs. Patterson said, “I’m thrilled about the impact Mrs. Staton will bring to our district with her expertise in literacy. Her dedication to our district is a valuable addition, and I’m confident she’ll be a great asset to our community.” Mr. Hogan, middle School principal, stated, “It is great we have brought back to our district, Mrs. Staton. Her experience as a teacher and a consultant on the local and state level will be a tremendous asset to our district. She not only works here but she lives in our community and her children attend LPS. Welcome back!!!” When asked about the impact of a new addition to the admin team, high school principal, Dr. Owen said, “Welcome back to the Home of the Golden Arrows! We are excited to have you on our team and the expertise and knowledge you bring with you will benefit the students in our district.”
Mrs. Staton and her husband of 16 years, Codey, have 3 children: Conner, age 15; Clara, age 11; and Carley, age 9. When asked about taking on this new role, she said, “I am so excited to be back in the district. I love Lavaca Public Schools.” This fall Mrs. Staton will start her 17th year in education.
